Iteration 43: 15 April - 05 May

Brand with Purpose

This release puts brand integrity first as sd-brandshape has now restricted use across theming.
Beyond that, this release also announces the upcoming sd-progress-bar, brings the new “xs” size for sd-step to code, expands Storybook docs and templates, adds fresh icons to the library, and includes focused accessibility and development refinements.

Strict theme handling for sd-brandshape

To ensure a more consistent and polished visual experience across all products, sd-brandshape is now restricted to the ui-light and ui-dark themes.

When used in any other theme, the component will simply no longer be displayed. This improvement helps prevent unintended visual inconsistencies and guarantees that brand elements remain aligned with the design intentions and quality standards of the system.

Progress-bar is taking shape

Progress-bar component is taking shape and will be soon implemented in dev. Get ready to use it to provide clear, consistent feedback on progress in your experiences as soon as it is published in design and code.

Step “xs” arrived to dev with a new template

We’re excited to announce that the brand-new “xs” size for sd-step is now available in dev!
This new option gives teams even more flexibility when designing compact and streamlined user experiences, especially for mobile-first interfaces and responsive layouts.

With the new “xs” variant, layouts can now feel lighter, cleaner, and more adaptable across different use cases and screen sizes, opening the door for even more refined product experiences.

Storybook documentation and templates expanded

We’ve continued improving the developer and collaboration experience by expanding our Storybook documentation with clearer accessibility guidance, improved screenshot testing documentation, and more practical implementation examples to help teams adopt components faster and work more consistently.

Additionally, new templates are now available to help teams move faster and adopt components more easily:

  • sd-radio-group
  • sd-tag
  • sd-select

New icons on our Figma library

New icons are now available in the design system’s Figma library and ready to use directly in your designs! All icons are now fully aligned with Celum, ensuring a consistent experience across both platforms. While we don’t provide icons in development, these updates can be adopted in your products right away, so visual cues stay fresh and consistent with the rest of your iconography.

Small fixes and improvements on Dev

A collection of smaller improvements and accessibility refinements has also been included in this release, including focus outline improvements for checkbox, switch, and radio components, enhanced date parsing and min/max handling in sd-datepicker, as well as several accessibility and screen reader improvements in sd-carousel, alongside improved autoplay button accessibility and navigation order.

What’s Next?

This iteration brings BBBank out of QA, alongside variable updates and improvements across other themes. sd-progress-bar is set to land in code and be published in Figma, with a new file-transfer component on its way and continued bug fixes and refinements throughout the sprint.
